Paintings

George Caleb Bingham Paintings can be seen in museums throughout the United States. Here are listings of where to see the artist’s portraits, landscapes, and genre paintings (scenes of every day life.)  There is some overlap in landscapes and genre paintings. The listings below include title, museum, and state. (Click here for a complete listing of Bingham paintings organized by state.)

If you wish to view the paintings, be sure to contact museum staff at least a week in advance. The paintings you want to see may be in storage since museum exhibits should be vital and changing.

After several years of trying to maintain these listings, I now link only to images at Google Cultural Institute because  (1) the links remain constant, and (2) the museums have given  permission (3) the images are zoomable to see the greatest detail. If you know of any additions or revisions, please contact us.
